Blast from the past, just to cheer myself up on a dreary day...




Inspired by the last Dior couture show, I got & modified a vintage long-line bra.

Don't know that I'll ever wear this out, because it does border on costume, but it was certainly fun to put on & play around with.

The Groceries Won't Buy Themselves

I'm going to institute a new savings program: every time I go to the grocery store I'm going to throw a dollar in the kitty. I'll have enough for a ticket to Paris by Christmas, I swear.

boots: Heaven only knows. I think they're honest-to-goodness Frye harness boots, but I've had them for nigh onto two decades now and all distinguishing marks have disappeared. Been re-soled at least once, probably twice. They give me an extremely satisfying clomp-y stride.
fishnets: Random. I buy fishnets & tights when- & wherever I find them on sale.

End of Summer

One of our favorite places does half-price bottles of wine on Mondays in the summer. Tonight was the last Monday for this year, so we went for one more half-price bottle of prosecco. Does that make me a cheapskate? Too bad -- I need that money for shoes!

Another impulse buy, and not a cheap one, but worth every dime. I'm so glad I have this in my closet, it's such an wonderful piece. The chain is beginning to tarnish now, and I'm panicking a little. I can see me completely re-working this with a new chain rather than give it up.

These shoes are so insanely good.


These are manhattan-drinking shoes, and I drank one tonight while I wore them. (Dry and up, thank you.) I imagine I'll be wearing these for many years to come, and they were scored at the Neiman Marcus outlet for a criminally low price --- seriously less than 10% of original retail. All hail Last Call.

Also -- all hail the bandage skirt. Counter-intuitively, I recommend bunging one on whenever you're feeling less than svelte. It's like a girdle without the girdle-y bits. I should probably buy a couple of backups of these, because I'm going to wear this one to shreds.

They'd probably throw my hot pink ass Right. Out. Of a Givenchy boutique if I walked in wearing these, but I don't care. I love color, this is what I'm all about. The shoes were an impulse buy and a damned good one. I've gotten a lot of wear out of these and they are stupidly comfortable, I can stomp around in them for hours. Pliner makes wicked good shoes at reasonable prices.

These are them. Fantastic shoes. And apparently they are also available in purple

the knowledge of which is giving me the vapors. I can't possibly justify... can I?

It was pouring rain and I had errands to run. I hatehatehate when the bottom of my pants get wet. This t-shirt is a super-thin, lightweight merino. I wish I had about 30 of them.
